12/13/2010 Formerly called Lancaster Grill, this Greek run restaurant is a great place to eat if you're in the area! I've been here twice in the past year, and have been pleasantly surprised both times! The staff are all very nice and caring, and the food is brought out at the appropriate times. The first visit I had salad, lamb shanks, and pasta, this time I had hummus, salad, a gyro and dessert. Their Greek salad comes with a creamy dressing which is very good, but they filled my request of an oil based dressing very well, and their salads are very good and all the veggies fresh. Their hummus is creamy and thin, but very good and lemony, and their pita is more of a soft, thick flatbread that doesn't rise like a balloon when cooked, and so does not have a hollow center. They fry it on the griddle before serving. I was very surprised at the calimari from such a small rural town. It was very good and fresh tasting!
When I got my lamb shank, I was so excited! It's probably my favorite cut of meat, and I never see it on a menu. It was fall apart tender, but still juicy, and not too strong tasting, just right. The pasta however was a joke. Over done, with a watery, uninspired brown sauce on it, yuck!
This time I had a keftedes gyro, which was pretty good. The meat was charred well, and nicely flavored, although it had a little too much tzatziki sauce which was good, but not great, maybe ask for it on the side. My friend however had the spicy chicken kopanisti gyro, which is almost like spicy chicken paprikash in a pita. It was awesome!
For dessert, he had the baklava sundae, which was about like you would think, and I had the galaktobouriko, which is lemon vanilla custard in phillo dough, and honey on top. I was expecting a more flaky crust, but it was basically a warm, very soft slightly chewy pastry with a softer, slightly lemony center. I wasn't too impressed, but it was ok.
